NC rockers RAID THE QUARRY to release crowdfunded alt/rock odyssey Beyond These Castle Walls
RAID THE QUARRY, stalwarts of the Raleigh, NC music scene, released their second full-length album on December 9, 2022. Fans successfully funded the project through Indiegogo last year, exceeding their goal by 30%. The record, entitled Beyond These Castle Walls, is produced by Al Jacob (He Is Legend, Jack the Radio) and mastered by Troy Glessner (August Burns Red, New Found Glory). It represents a leap forward for the band, lending their punk-inflected modern rock a newly polished, immersive quality.
The lead single, “S.O.S,” is accompanied by a Stranger-Things-esque music video shot on location at Panic Point Haunted Forest in Youngsville, NC, and directed by Jaiden Frost (Cultus Black). “S.O.S.” was born out of a struggle with thoughts of suicide, and utilizes horror imagery to visualize the isolation and despair felt in that place of darkness. The song acts as an honest cry for help and a declaration of hope. Logan Christopher (Obsidian Darling) is featured as a guest vocalist. Scroll down to watch the video.
Once dubbed “the kings of loud,” Raid the Quarry have been regular guests at the Carrboro Music Festival; they have also performed at Triangle-area events such as Hopscotch, Packapalooza, SPARKcon, and Local Band Local Beer; and shared the stage with acts such as Eva Under Fire, Mike Mains & the Branches, and Rusty Shipp. With an aggressive but accessible combination of growling guitars and memorable melodies, the quartet’s style should appeal to fans of Anberlin, Foo Fighters, and Jimmy Eat World.
